The Band
It's the new sound they call 'swing'n'roots' - the Big Ol Bus Band. Catch them as they travel around Australia in an old 57 seater bus, performing in heritage halls and theatres, mainstages in major festivals such as the 2013 Manly Jazz Festival, 2012 Darling Harbour Jazz and Blues, and more. Loaded up with 10 international touring band members who have credits with Keith Urban, Tom Burlinson, INXS, Doobie Brothers, Smokey Robinson, Steely Dan, Human Nature, Jimmy Barnes, James Morrison and more, there's a buzz in the bus. The double bass is on the roof, the horn boys are in the back seat, and the Cherote Sisters are crooning and swooning with swingin' sass and panache. Jumping on and off the bus before heading off to Paris is also Queen of Australian swing and burlesque, dancer Kelly Ann Doll - www.kellyanndoll.com.au - and her partner.
With original songs written by charismatic band leader Hugh Scott Murray, this bus could roll to you. Hugh is an internationally respected performer/songwriter whose song-writing credits include Grammy award winning artists Keith Urban, INXS and Lou Rawls, to name but a few. He has worn out numerous pairs of boots on the backroads between Broken Hill, Sydney and Nashville – where the Big Ol Bus Band first struck up and rolled in the U.S. This Australian chapter of the band is on a grand musical adventure and would love to meet you out on the road so come on down!
“Big Ol Bus, no fuss, ridin' on the Big ol Bus”.
